The Sacramento Kings will look to snap a six-game losing streak when they host the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. Sacramento lost 117-109 in their most recent matchup against the Golden State Warriors, and is now just 2-20 since starting the season 3-1. The Bucks stunned just about everyone with their 98-79 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, as Milwaukee is now 1-1 without Brandon Jennings. Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight's games the oddsmakers have the Bucks favored by two points over the Kings on the road.
While you have to give credit to the Bucks for how they played against the Lakers, I think a lot of that outcome had to do with the Lakers looking ahead to the Miami Heat on Christmas Day. Either way, this is a big confidence booster for Milwaukee, who will likely be without Jennings until at least the middle of January.
After shooting just 38 percent against the Trail Blazers the night before, Milwaukee made nearly 50 percent from the field, including 57 percent from three-point range. Earl Boykins came off the bench to lead the Bucks with 22 points, as he drained 4-of-5 from downtown. John Salmons added 20 points and Ersan Ilyasova and Andrew Bogot both scored in double figures.
The Bucks really gave a great effort on the defensive side of the ball, holding the Lakers to just 33 second-half points, but the real question is can this team continue to shoot as well as they did against Los Angeles? You would think it would at least continue to tonight's game, where they face a Sacramento defense that is allowing 102 points a game.
The Kings just can't buy a win right now. Sacramento went into the fourth quarter against the Warriors with an 84-70 lead, but allowed Golden State to come all the way back, and Vladimir Radmanovic drained a three-pointer as time expired to force overtime, where the Kings were outscored 15-7.
The Kings have had a number of close losses this season, but really let down in the fourth quarter and allow teams to pull away. The Kings have a good chance of getting their sixth win tonight, as I really think the Bucks are in trouble without Jennings in the lineup.
Sacramento got a big game from Beno Udrih, as he scored a season-high 34 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. Tyreke Evans struggled with his shot, scoring just 15 points on 4-of-18 shooting, but contributed in other areas with 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Evans has struggled in his second season, and I think once he gets going again, the Kings will start playing much better basketball
