Dani Parejo reduced the arrears for Getafe with a splendid individual effort but Real’s two goal advantage was restored by Ronaldo early in the second half. There were some anxious moments for Real towards the end after Alvaro Arbeloa’s dismissal and Juan Albin’s goal for Getafe but the visitors held on for all three points.
Villarreal comfortably beat lowly Almeria 2-0 at El Madrigal last weekend. Jose Manuel Catala headed the hosts ahead midway through the first half and victory was confirmed when Borja Valero scored from a free kick just before the hour mark.
