The Hoops have won their last three encounters against Kilmarnock, prevailing by 0-3, 3-1 and 1-2 scorelines. In the last meeting between the two sides that took place at Rugby Park earlier this year, Killie took the lead through Conor Sammon but Celtic ended up winning 2-1 thanks to goals in either half from Daryl Murphy and Anthony Stokes.
It will be a special day in Kilmarnock’s history if they can beat Neil Lennon’s side this weekend. Killie have not won in their last 28 visits to Celtic Park, with 23 of those games going in favour of the home side.
Fifteen points separate the two teams in the league table going into this weekend’s fixture. Celtic are in second place with 35 points while Killie are in 6th with 20 points. If Mixu Paatelainen’s men are to get anything from this fixture, a lot will depend on the performance of their on loan Finnish star Alexei Eremenko Jr, winner of the Scottish premier league’s Player of the Month award for November.
