Overeem victory – Results and FIGHT VIDEO
It’s a big weekend for all kinds of fighting sports as tonight we’ll be seeing UFC 124, and also the WBA light-welterweight title fight of Khan vs. Maidana. We’ve also seen the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 final of Alistair Overeem vs Peter Aerts in Japan which was an awesome heavyweight combat fight, and almost unbelievable.
In a magnificent final it was Overeem, already Mixed Martial Arts World Heavyweight Champion, who also became K-1 World Champion. Overeem proved himself a devastating puncher taking the victory in only 1 minute and 7 seconds, according to Leland Rolling over on Bloody Elbow. K-1 legend, Dutchman Peter Aerts took some real punishment in a volley of blows from Overeem and was not a pushover as the timescale might suggest. He simply could not match up to the form of Overeem. You can see the fight video below this story.
Over on MMA Weekly, Damon Martin also reports on Overeem’s TKO victory over Aerts noting that Overeem “came out of the gate like a raging bull and just steam rolled Aerts.” After his win Overeem lapped up the victory and said, “I hope you enjoyed tonight, I hope you loved the fights, I gave 100%, and I love you Japanese fans.”
