LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Kate O’Brien, sister to Conan O’Brien, is impressing critics for her role in “The Fighter”. Kate O’Brien was mentioned by her costar during Conan’s Wednesday night broadcast.
Immediately fans were surprised to learn that Conan’s sister appears in one of the most nominated films of this awards season.
In The Fighter, Kate O’Brien plays Phyllis ‘Beaver’ Ecklund. O’Brien’s character is sister to Mark Wahlberg’s character Mickey. While not nominated for a Golden Globe, Kate has garnered praise from critics and co-stars for her role.
Co-star Amy Adams joined Conan last night and said Kate she “did an amazing job and she loved the experience.”
Adams should know. Adams is among the many cast members who were nominated for Golden Globes this week for their appearances in the film. Adams joins Melissa Leo for best supporting actress nods. Christian Bale picked up best supporting actor for his role in the movie while Mark Wahlberg earned a best actor nomination. The film also garnered a best picture nod.
